Birdsong
by Sebastian Faulks
What the blurb on the back says...
"Set in France before and during World War I, this is the story of a young Englishman who is impelled through a series of extreme experiences, including a traumatic love affair which tears apart the bourgeois French family with whom he lives."
What I thought of it...
I found the first one hundred pages of this book excellent. It was very passionate and I found myself very involved. When the book changed its setting to the trenches of the first World War, I found I didn't enjoy it as much. I don't mean to disrespect the men and women who fought and died in the war but I do not enjoy reading about it. I read as much as I could then put the book down. I would recommed this book to anyone who is interested in the first World War and love stories.
