This is Sophie Dophie, the sister of Kittypuss Squeakybean. Sophie and Kitty arrived as eight week old kittens rescued by the Cats Protection. I wanted another cat but, as it is sometimes difficult to settle an older cat with existing residents, I chose to have kittens. As they were found together as sisters, I thought it only right to keep them together. Sophie appears first as she was the first one to be named. She is a very affectionate cat and absolutely loves to be stroked and fussed. She has a soft, gentle purr and tiny, little paws. She is very well behaved and comes if you call her. When she is particularly pleased to see you, she shakes her tail in the air. Sophie doesn't like going out much and prefers a warm lap to a run in the garden. She is eight years old.

January 2004
Sophie has been ill. She had to have a mastectomy to remove a tumour on her teats. She is recovering well now, after convelescing in the bedroom for a couple of week. The cancer had not spread to her lungs, which is very fortunate.
November 2004
Tragically, Sophie has died. She had been coughing so I took her to the vet. She was breathing very heavily, almost panting, when we got there. The vet x-rayed her chest and found her lungs to be full of tumours. He advised that she should be put to sleep as nothing could be done to save her. Lee and I were very upset as we cuddled our little girl the last time. She purred but was very distressed and couldn't breathe properly. The end was very fast as she slipped away.
She is buried with Kittypuss in the back garden.
She was ten and a half when she died.
